My Impressions for X-Men: Days Of Future Past

I did not manage to view X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST on the silver screen in a darkened cinema, but instead viewed it streamed online and in a murky darkened state of bootleggery ("boo" me), so I can hardly comment on the visuals, and frankly have not reviewed it at all - either here on on my main movie-blog Popcorn-X … simply because it would not be wholly fair to review based on the crappy visual experience! BUT … push comes to shove, and with the lack of placating one of my senses, it also forced me to concentrate on just the story and dialogue, then I have to say XMEN: DOFP is quite rubbish the disappointment.

Gone were the charm of X1 and even X2. And while the retro-ness of "X-Men: First Class" powers thru this film, it became gimmicky real quick, even thru the murkiness of the bootleg visuals, I am sad to say. If folks gave X3 sh*t for the sheer abundance of characters in play, then DOFP was yet another orgy of mutants waiting to die off when their five minutes of exposure was up.

I know the future was in dire straight and all, but to spend an amount of time and effort being awed by mutants in action, then subsequently seeing them snuffled out by Sentinels, turned me off more than I had imagined LOL

If the entire film hinged on THAT Quicksilver scene in the prison (which was cool and all that…), then we have been lying to ourselves on the turd before us, IMHO.

Maybe with a clearer viewing of the movie on DVD might change my impressions for this film, but truthfully, I doubt I would even bother to purchase said DVD in the first place.

And that's all I have to say about the film.

Would "X-Men: Apocalypse" be any different?

Maybe if the mutant count was reduced, and more focus will be put on the characters rather than their fancy powers, then maybe folks (myself included) would give a damn again, and not keep on watching these X-Films for the sake of nostalgia for the comicbooks I had loved before.

Nightcrawler Revealed In "X-Men: Apocalypse"

Actor "Kodi Smit-McPhee" as "Nightcrawler" revealed in "X-Men: Apocalypse" - the sequel to "X-Men: Days of Future Past", to also be directed by Bryan Singer with the film under 20th Century Fox. "X-Men: Apocalypse" will be based in the 80s (while "Days" was based in the 70s).

The last time we saw "Kurt Wagner" / "Nightcrawler" on thie big screen was in 2003's "X2", with the teleporting mutant played by Alan Cumming, and frankly a tad "older" in the part than I imagined. Personally I've always felt the "wonder" of the X-Men is lost on the silver screens with the mutants as grown "adults" … it might have worked in comicbooks, but on the big screen, they just seem like sad sods which nobody could really relate to, except fellow sad adult folks … the younger incarnation ala "X-Men First Class" could possibly capture said "wonder", which "The New Mutants" could somehow do in comicbooks, methinks.

Too bad the franchise comes to a close in "Apocalypse", but I would not be wholly surprised they will be rebooted somewhen in the near future, without a doubt.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Viral Video - "Homo Sapiens Superior"

Viral marketing for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE has begun with this 4:10mins "Homo Sapiens Superior" featuring filmed "interviews" with scientists who mention he word "mutant" / "mutation" and I find my excitement level piques whenever said word is uttered … funnily, not a single footage of a recognizable X-Men or mutant is shown, well, except for "soccer boy" lol

And before even any footage from the movie is shot, two viral websites now exist: Tandem Initiative (of which the above video is "from") and M Underground- a pro-Mutant website:

WOLVERINE from "X-Men: Days of Future Past" - the "future" version - in 1/6-scaled as customized by Jacob Rahmier (and posted on One Sixth Republic on Facebook). Curiously, we do not see much action figure news on the movies' myriad of characters, whom ironically could simply power an entire toy-line, IMHO … gives credence to the speculated word(s) that the current X-Men movie toys are being "freezed out" of toy-collectors' hands, doesn't it?

"En Sabah Nur" would eventually become the X-Men nemesis known as "APOCALYPSE", and will be the main villain in the next film / sequel to X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, directed by Bryan Singer, known as "X-MEN: APOCALYPSE" (2016). That said, the video below is the End Credits Scene for "X-Men: Days of Future Past", and no doubt is an absolute SPOILER for the full viewing of the film! The "Wolverine Meets Beast" clip preceded this sequence, where Logan travels back in time to look for Professor X, who has since "lost" his powers, and is holed up in the X-Mansion, with Hank McCoy looking out for him? No doubt Cerebro happens next… followed by a visit to Quicksilver … all of which I'd rather not be (an unavoidable) "smart-alec" and enjoy the film and discover it as I view it … Heh.
